Sixteen this-or-that questions, about five minutes, and a travel profile that puts words to why some trips feel right and others never quite land. Free, on your own or with your partner.
Free travel profile questionnaire
A short set of this-or-that questions about how you actually like to travel: what you want from a day, where you want to be at the end of it, and what makes a trip feel right. No right answers and nothing to write, just sixteen choices and the profile they add up to.
How the questionnaire works
1
Each question puts you in a real travel situation: where you’d rather be, how you’d spend an evening, what your perfect morning looks like. You pick between two ends, and there’s no right answer, just the one you naturally lean towards.
2
Every answer is Definitely or Somewhat, one way or the other. There’s no sitting on the fence, because how strongly you lean says as much about you as which way.
3
Twelve of the questions place you on three scales. Energy: buzz or calm. Pace: go or slow. Finish: polished or local. The questionnaire reads the full pattern across your answers, rather than any single one.
4
Whichever way each scale tips gives you one of eight kinds of traveller. The last four questions add the detail, like food, stories and the moments you remember, that makes your profile yours. The same answers always give the same profile.
The eight kinds of traveller
Your three scales point to one of these eight. None is better than another: each is a way of travelling that works brilliantly when the trip fits it. Answer it together and you each get your own, side by side, which is usually where the interesting conversation starts.
Click or hover over each one for a sneaky little quote from the traveller behind it.
What you get
Here’s a real example, made by the questionnaire itself from Jo’s answers. Yours will look just like this, only about you.
1
Which of the eight kinds of traveller you are, what you bring to a trip, and the side of you people don’t always see.
2
Where your answers put you on the three scales, drawn as a map. Each circle is a kind of traveller; where circles overlap, you’re a mix of both.
3
The three scales one by one, and how far along each one you sit. Tap the i on a scale to see the questions behind it.
4
Your strongest answers, turned into a checklist: what would work for you on the left, and what wouldn’t on the right.
Travelling with someone?
Take it with your partner and you each get your own profile, then your results show how the two of them meet. It replaces the guesswork and the ‘well, I assumed you’d like…’ with something you can both point at: where you strongly agree, where you clearly don’t, and what you would both be happy with. Here’s Jo with Sam.
5
Both of you on the same Travel Spectrum, so you can see at a glance where you overlap and where you don’t.
6
Question by question: where you’re in sync, where you may need to compromise, and what you have in common.
7
Only the answers you share, so the checklist suits you both.
8
Every answer side by side, pink for the first option and orange for the second. Hover over or tap a name’s letter to see whose column it is.
How it reads your answers
Each answer is Definitely or Somewhat, one end or the other, with no middle to sit in. Twelve of the questions pull on three scales, four questions each, and your profile is whichever way each scale tips. It reads the full pattern rather than any single answer, and the same answers always give the same profile.
The questions put you in real travel situations rather than asking you to name a country. Your results describe how you like to travel, not where you ought to go, so they hold up whether it’s a weekend away or a fortnight abroad.

Good to know
About five minutes. There are sixteen this-or-that questions and no right or wrong answers.
Yes, completely free.
Not in the clinical sense, and we make no claim that it is one. It is a travel questionnaire: you make sixteen choices, twelve of them add up across three scales, and your profile is whichever way those scales tip. Nothing is guessed, and the same answers always give the same result.
Your travel profile: which of the eight kinds of traveller you are, where you sit on Energy, Pace and Finish, how strongly you lean, and a checklist of what would work for you on a trip and what wouldn’t.
Yes. Answer for both of you and you’ll also see how your travel styles meet: where you’re in sync, where you may need to compromise, and what would work for you both.
No, on purpose. It describes how you like to travel, not which country suits you, so it’s just as useful for a weekend away as for a fortnight abroad.
